
Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran

Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran is the Environment and Energy Correspondent for The Economist, covering developments in politics, economics, business, and technology as they relate to energy issues.
Vaitheeswaran was born in Madras, India and grew up in Cheshire, Connecticut. He graduated from MIT with a degree in mechanical engineering. He started working at The Economist as an intern. After a year as a correspondent, he opened the publication's first office in Latin America, in Mexico City. He now lives in New York City, working as the Environment and Energy Correspondent. He is in this position as of 4 April 2007.
In 2005 he published a book Power for the People, How the Coming Energy Revolution will Change our Lives, and maybe even Save the Planet, and he is co-writing a forthcoming book on the future of the car. The book pay particular attention to alternative fuel sources, such as those used in the Tesla Roadster. He is a frequent commentator on science-policy issues on television and radio.
